*or, if you want the big fancy academic title, "Learning self-care when young: How music may enhance educational video-storytelling to support accidental injury prevention in children"
This is a project I've been working on through the Emerging Scholars program at UMass Lowell, which allows students from the college of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences to be paired up with a faculty mentor and assist them on their ongoing research. It's an interdisciplinary project jointly directed by Drs. Elissa Johnson-Green (Music) and Jiabin Shen (Psychology).
Will adding music to video stories enhance engagement?
Can we use this enhancement to reduce injuries and increase retention?
Reviewed literature related to Music and its connections to memory, the senses, and learning
Composed music as part of a group consisting of Emerging Scholars peers, a graduate Music Education student, and an RHSA Roads to Research fellow using Soundtrap DAW
Present on my work at different events, including an Emerging Scholars Mid-Year Event and an Honors Experiential Learning Outcome presentation (see below)
Presented at the annual UMass Lowell Research Symposium and won for best oral presentation in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences
